Η βρετανική κυβέρνηση με πολύ κόπο κατάφερε να προσποιηθεί ότι η καταστροφή του τουρκο-αιγυπτιακού στόλου στο Ναβαρίνο δεν επέφερε καμιά ουσιαστική αλλαγή στο status quo, και την ίδια στάση τήρησαν και οι άλλες Μεγάλες Δυνάμεις της Ευρώπης, αν και λιγότερο πειστικά [...]. Δεν συνέβη όμως το ίδιο με τους Τούρκους και τους Έλληνες, οι οποίοι αντιλήφθηκαν την αποφασιστική σημασία του γεγονότος. Παρότι πέρασε περισσότερο από ένας ακόμα χρόνος για να λήξει ο πόλεμος, και περίπου πέντε χρόνια για να εγκαθιδρυθεί το Βασίλειο της Ελλάδας μ’ έναν νεαρό Βαυαρό μονάρχη στον θρόνο, δεν υπήρχε πια καμιά αμφιβολία για το αποτέλεσμα.
